Vaugel Studio Figure/Portrait Master Sculpture Workshops March 31-April 24, 2009 - 4 separate weeks — The Former Sculpture Director of the New York Academy of Art, teaches using lecture, demonstrations and personal critiques. The teaching approach is based on a profound geometric and anatomical analysis of the figure. It emphasizes bony landmarks, the weighting of planes in the creation of forms. In the Portrait class students create a generic skull. It is then turned into the skull of the model and then completed from life. The Figure class teaches the art of seeing using proportions as horizontals, gravity as verticals and energy lines as diagonals. Students create a grid from 4 views which allows them to duplicate the figure in any size. Armature building Clay modeling and Finishing techniques are taught using water base clay.
